Mary Sherman has published over 400 art reviews, interviews and think pieces in newspapers and magazines, including as a regular contributor to Art New England, ARTnews, the Chicago Sun Times, The Boston Globe, Boston Herald and Boston Review. As a free-lancer, her work has appeared in Artscribe, Arts International, Arts Media, Art New England, Flash Art, The Chicago Reader, Latin American Art, New Art Examiner, The Boston Tab, Metro, Improper Bostonian, Women’s Art Journal, nka: Journal of African Art, nyartsmagazine, The Boston Phoenix and Provincetown Arts. In addition, she served as a regular contributor to the architectural competition magazine Competitions, an advisory board member for On Drawing (Collegiate Press) and, in 2004, the visual arts columnist for www.wbur, Boston’s National Public Radio website, which that year won the Online Journalism Award for Excellence in Specialty Journalism.
