Mary Sherman’s art and book reviews have appeared in the Journal for Appalachian Studies (Marshall University) nka: Journal of African Art (Cornell University), Religion and the Arts (Boston College) and the Women’s Art Journal (Old City Publishing with the ongoing support of Rutgers University). Her reviews of architectural competitions appeared in Competitions (Ball State University).

In addition, Mary has written on her own work, in particular, its exploration of the relationship between the aural and visual. Her essay “In Praise of Frozen Sound: Audifying Painting” appeared in IKONOTHEKA 29 (University of Warsaw, pp. 23-32) and in Mary Sherman: What if You Could Hear a Painting (Leonardo Electronic Almanac MIT Press, 2016, pp. 32-47). A description of her conceptual work “The Demise of a Dream, or Paradise Regained” was also included in Mary Sherman: What if You Could Hear a Painting (pp. 64-70).
